Review
of The Gay Blades SXSW show...
"...an
unintended contribution by Sam Bey, The Parlor Mob's drummer, that scored
big numbers on the unintentional comedy scale. Grabbing a cowbell, an
overly inebriated Bey continuously staggered on stage without bothering
to take off his bulky backpack to lend additional percussion while provoking
wagers on whether he would fall off the stage or tumble into the drum
kit. Bets were taken off the board when the tambourine he kicked off the
stage hit the bouncer in the head resulting in his prompt escort from
the premises."
- Earvolution
"To me
this band harkens back to a time when the song was king and being able
to play was paramount to your success more than what the media said about
you. I hope they help define their generation."
- Howard Willing
"When
youire not even halfway through your 20's, jump-starting a back-to-basics
rock revolution seems a tall order. Judging by the rock ini roll charisma
radiated by the band members at their live shows o long-hair-tossing,
instrument-abusing, generally reckless affairs o they are up to the task."
- The New York Times
"With
dynamic live sets and slightly askew guitar-rock, it's no wonder the genre-breaking
group from Red Bank, N.J., has earned the adulation of fans and critics
alike. With experimental rock songs that add a fresh twist to the classic
sounds of the 60s and 70s, the band that formed in early 2004 is set to
lead a musical revolution that will capture audiences of all ages."
- BMI
"Basically,
now is the time to go see them and say later on, eYea, you know, I saw
them back before they took over the world,i because that is the way things
are heading."
- The Aquarian Weekly
"Clever
and intellectually stimulating."
- The New York Waste
"The band
comes across as focused, determined and ready to bring their music to
a wider audience. They are devoted to their music and their fans, and
we expect to be hearing great things from and about them in the year ahead."
- Chorus and Verse
"The Parlor
Mobis music is comparable to epic."
- Exit Weekly
"Catchy
vocal hooks and riffs that twist and turn their way into your memory."
- East Coast Romper
"Watching
The Parlor Mob perform feels like witnessing history in the making."
- Planet Verge
"The ability
of The Parlor Mob to construct a track that is as emotionally compelling
without vocals as what most bands are capable of with vocals shows the
talent of this act."
